CAO would like to honor the contribution of two individuals involved in the Uzbekistan Indorama Kokand/Hamkor Bank-01 case, who sadly passed away in 2021.
Khaitboy Yakubov was a Khorezm human rights activist, and a member of the Group in Mediation (a sub-group of complainants) involved in the case. For many years, he spoke out against forced labor, corruption and injustice, and defended the rights of farmers and other workers. We will remember his professionalism, dedication to work, as well as his cheerfulness, sense of humor and faith in people. We extend our deepest condolences to Khaitboy’s family and friends.
Surat Ikramov was a well-known Uzbek human rights activist, and a member of the Group in Mediation (a sub-group of complainants) involved in the case. He was involved in human rights activities in relation to fighting torture and religious persecution. Due to his experience, knowledge, integrity and deep humanity, he was well respected by his peers. We extend our deepest condolences to Surat’s wife Gulnora, family and friends.
